UIGEA Conflict of Interest
The tussle over the completion of the directives, specified under the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 (or UIGEA), has increased recently with Congressman Steve Cohen asking White House official Fred Fielding to examine if an important Bush-administration lobbyist favouring UIGEA divulged a potential conflict of interest.
William Wichterman is a Bush advisor, who has worked with lobbyists Covington Burling, until early 2008.
There he acted for and worked on Internet gaming laws for the NFL. Cohen has been quoted as saying the NFL is the most outspoken supporters of the proposed judgments.
Wichterman has
been placed under a substantial amount of pressure for completion of the UIGEA.
